Engine oil service D2-75 and generator

The engine of Thetis comes to 60hrs, according to service manual it should be processed with some inspection and replacement of engine oil and oil filter.
start the engine for warming up engine before changing oil.

60.6hrs

first service I=inspection, C=check, R=replace

The little yellow cap is where you can get the engine oil out wth a suction tool.

   

As manual mentioned I used a plastic bag when removing old filter, so there is no dirty oil drop in engine room. Here shows the part Nr of oil filter.

We have prepared 10 liters of volvo 10W-40 oil, according to the manual, this D2-75 requires 10.5 liters. we added oil by several times, 

1st:5000ml

2nd:3000ml

check oil level, reached minium

start engine, run for 2 mins

3rd: 1500ml

start engine, run for 2 mins

measure oil level, at maxium

we total added 9.5 liters.

After adding new oil, start engine again and check if there is any oil leakage.

 The generator is coming to 119hrs....

finally we found the engine model on top of the engine. LDW702 MG.(then what is the panel on the side of engine?) According the data I found from internet, this engine requires 1.5L oil without replacing filter, 1.6L with new oil filter.

Base on the manual it would need only engine oil replacement, the filter replacement will be at 250hrs.

the suggested oil is total 10W-40, I found this total 15W-40, which also has volvo VDS-3 certification(volvo D2-75 required VDS-3 level engine oil). which means next time I can also use this oil for D2-75
